Visit the Replica Cathedral of the Peak on Saturday 27th July, 1-5pm

Friends of St Johns are hosting a garden party to raise much needed funds for St Johns Church.
All are welcome to visit a mini version of the Cathedral of the Peak.image
Take a tour and share memories of this unusual building which we believe was made about 100 years ago by Cameron Hill and friends.
Tea, cakes, games, raffle, and “tower tours” for those with no head for heights.
A minimum donation of £5 is requested for entrance to support this worthy cause.
Saturday 27th July, 1:00pm until 5:00pm  
Foxlowe House, Sherwood Rd, Tideswell. 

Well Blessings at Tideswell and Litton

3pm Saturday 22nd June: Well Blessings at Tideswell, parade led by Tideswell Band will start from Tideswell Parish Church and lead to the main well in Fountain Square. All the wells in the village will be blessed. Church will be open all the following week with refreshments available.

2pm Sunday 23rd June: Well Blessings at Litton, starting at the Methodist Church, with Cressbrook Band.

Shadows of the Past…..

The six hundred year long story of St. John the Baptist, Tideswell will be told during the village’s Wakes TP-195c-HGSJ_Tomb-2016and Well Dressing Week (June 22nd – 30th) with a unique art installation, “Shadows of the Past: A History of The Cathedral of the Peak in a Hundred People.” Short biographies of a hundred people whose lives have touched St. John’s will be displayed in a strikingly visual way, inviting visitors to take a walk through history, and to meet some remarkable people, such as the mysterious de Bowers, commemorated in the south transept (see picture). The church will be open from 10am to 6pm each day, with refreshments served until about 4pm, and entry is free. Find St. John’s on line, with information about church and tower tours:  and

‘Taste and See’ Cafe Church returns on 7th July

Cafe Church meets in the Church Institute, behind Tideswell Church, with a slow start around 9.30am leading up to a short presentation around 9.50am. There are activities for all ages with excellent coffee, great baking and good company as we explore the story of the early church!
